Joining it up

We need to create a careful balance with content, so that it supports users with different types of access challenges. In addition, people may be disabled in more than one way.

For example:

  • Avoid using decorative images, which cause extra scrolling – but do use ones that support meaning.

The following guidelines help everyone:

  • Be concise.
  • Use clear, simple words and sentence structures.
  • Be inclusive with your language choices.
  • Don’t autoplay audio and visual content.
  • Be predictable.
  • Be consistent.
  • Make page title and page content topic match.
  • Make hyperlink text and destination match.
